HDI-Gerling Sach Serviceholding AG provides the overarching organizational structure for the Group's property/casualty insurance activities. HDI-Gerling International Holding AG is a wholly owned subsidiary. The company is responsible for management of the legally independent HDI-Gerling and HDI insurance companies in the property/casualty primary insurance segment based abroad. Within this framework, the company relies on expert local management in its approach to managing international activities. In recent years, the companies of HDI-Gerling International Holding AG were able to contribute to the success of the Group by making targeted acquisitions and continuing to strengthen the role of international business within the HDI-Gerling Property/Casualty Group.

The companies integrated within HDI-Gerling Sach Serviceholding AG wrote gross premiums of 5.9 billion euros in 2008 and generated an EBIT of 258 million euros (according to IFRS). The companies of HDI-Gerling International Holding contributed to this outstanding result by generating gross written premiums amounting to 2.1 billion euros and an EBIT of 44.4 million euros.
